Healing Soup Recipes

We 100% believe in the healing qualities of soups. Especially those that are warming and filled with essential nutrients.
As soon as the temperatures drop, I start craving warm, comforting foods and soups are always at the top of my list. And I am always on the hunt for new recipes that are equally as nutritious and tasty.

Detox Lentil Soup
I love almost every recipe that Pinch of Yum makes, but often find the need to adjust the recipe slightly to make it a bit healthier. One of my favorites is her Detox Crockpot Lentil Soup. It is chock full of good-for-you ingredients like kale, onions, garlic and carrots. I omit the parmesan cheese and swap the potatoes for sweet potatoes.
Gut-Calming Vegetable Broth
This soup is the perfect antidote for an upset stomach. What I love about it most is that Minimalist Baker offers that you can add in whatever aromatics or vegetables you have in your fridge to make it your own. Each time I make it, it is slightly different. While all soups are great to freeze, I often make sure I have extra to freeze this broth and use it as a base for future soups. Check out the recipe here.
Postpartum Green Vegetable Soup
After you have a baby, healing is absolutely necessary. I love this recipe from Mini Magazine that includes hearty greens like lacinato kale and snap peas and beans over a vegetable broth packed with herbs. I plan on making this for a friend who is having a baby soon and adding in quinoa or another hearty grain that will help keep her full longer while she cares for her newborn.
Thai Carrot Ginger Soup
Ginger is one of my favorite ingredients in a soup. It’s healing properties are well-touted and I absolutely love the flavor. This recipe from Choosing Chia is bursting with flavor. I make it “my own” by adding cauliflower in with the carrots and top it with any seeds (hemp, pumpkin) that I have handy.
Ayurvedic Red Lentil Soup
In Ayurvedic tradition, lentils have medicinal qualities and can help lower cholesterol, balance blood sugar, support digestive health and increase energy. If you are vegetarian or vegan, they are a great source of protein. My family all loves Bonberi’s Red Lentil Soup which is full of warming ingredients and I plan on making it all winter long.
